Corey's
work consists of highly sophisticated hybrid paintings utilizing the
tools of past and present to extend the dialogue of painting.
Her work beginning in 2007 is inspired by the film 2001: A Space
Odyssey. The film is infused with ideas of what a computer is capable
of, both positive and negative. "The monolith in the film was based
on a computer chip from the era and the trip to Jupiter was based on
among other things, abstract painting. "I believe my work is a
natural outgrowth from the technologies and ideas begun in the 60s,
the decade I was born", Corey states.
Corey is successfully pushing the materials of our time forward conceptually
through the use of ancient and modern tools creating compelling images
and spaces in which the viewer becomes pleasurably engulfed.
